I Can Almost Taste It

09/10/2019 by Kevin Sanders

No, I am not talking about my breakfast (it was quick and bland.) But I am talking about Clean Tech news! Today we have our final meeting to nail down the last few details, and then we can announce it to the world! It is pretty amazing to have something like this sooooo close, but not quite there. A purgatory of excitement, one I simultaneously wish to be over now and never. Well, we know it will not be never, but until I am able to spill the beans it will feel like forever! Like having that secret you wish to tell your friend, but cannot because it will ruin the surprise, this excitement is only amplified by being unable to tell.

But I promise, it will come soon!

Soon…

08/28/2019 by Kevin Sanders

While I do not have too much to talk about, I am just too excited to not post about the 2020 Clean Tech Competition! Everyone involved is hard at work preparing for the event, and if you are just as excited as we are, you should make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this coming month of September! We will be making an announcement of the date for our next competition final, the theme of this years event, when registration opens, and maybe another bit of exciting info as well…

Regardless, keep an eye on our social media, our blog, your email, basically anywhere you keep up to date with the newest and most exciting Clean Tech news! This will be our 9th annual competition, and we hope to see you and members of your school involved as we look for the next exciting breakthrough in sustainability and green technology!

The Excitement is Real

02/08/2019 by Kevin Sanders

So as some of you may know, this is my first full run through as Administrator. I came on just before the finals last year, so I am finally seeing the process as a whole and is it ever exciting! I have never sent more emails or talked to more people in my life! There is so much to coordinate and so much to plan, and I could not love it more. The excitement I feel being able to create this amazing competition and bring people from all over the globe together is a truly humbling experience for myself. Hopefully this is not the case is your part of the world, but here in the United States there is sadly still a large contingent of people that do not believe humans have a negative impact on the planet. This is truly depressing to hear because it comes of as a willful ignorance to the situation at hand. So, it is great to have a response from all corners of the globe, showing that an understanding of our current environmental struggle is understood everywhere, even if not by everyone.

So thats my update for today, registrations are rolling in and soon enough so will the paper submissions. I cannot wait to see all the amazing ideas you all have planned!

What Gives Me Hope

12/07/2018 by Kevin Sanders

So it has been just over two weeks since registration opened, and I cannot believe the response so far! As some of you may remember, I came on as the administrator about six weeks before the 2018 finals, so this is my first time seeing everything from the beginning. While I expected teams to be registering already, I am still impressed by the response. We have had teams registering from Egypt, Zimbabwe, the United States and Pakistan so far. It truly amazes me how far this competition reaches, how many lives it has touched. Thousands of students across the globe can claim to be Clean Tech Competition alumni, which means that thousands across the globe hold a sustainable future as a primary goal of their lives. This is what gives me hope for the future. Not the large companies or governments that are initiating changes, the response of everyday citizens in making a difference. While it may not seem like much, it is this change in the collective thought process that forces large organizations to adapt to the will of the people. Together, we can defeat the damage done in the last two centuries!
