Come Join Our Team!
Be part of a team of volunteers who, alongside the staff at CSTL, help to accomplish our mission to encourage science learning and literacy in everyone, children as well as adults.
As a CSTL Volunteer, you will have a unique opportunity to interact with guests of all ages in meaningful and engaging conversations and activities. Every volunteer at CSTL contributes to the guest experience and the enhancement of our exhibits in various and valuable ways whether at the front desk greeting guests, assisting in animal care, interpreting at our exhibits, or any number of roles— we appreciate our volunteers for their help in our ability to meet our mission goals!
Hours are flexible and there a variety of volunteer roles to apply for. Just look at the possibilities below!
Front Desk/Greeters are our guests’ introduction to CSTL and first impressions matter! Greet guests, answer their questions, answer the phone, and accompany guests in the exhibit. Tasks may vary slightly by season and guest attendance.
At CSTL, we are charged with the care of a variety of animals. Most of which have come to live at the center as the result of confiscation/rescue or being designated a non-releasable animal after an injury by officials. Volunteers assist with keeping the animals healthy, happy, and engaged by cleaning exhibits, feeding the animals, record keeping, and engaging guests in conversations about the living collection, and other related tasks.
Office Assistance & Marketing
It takes a lot to keep CSTL running behind the scenes! CSTL Volunteers assist our administrator in a variety of ways including helping with data input, marketing research, and more.
At CSTL, we offer many educational programs for school groups, scouts, birthday parties, weekend & family programs and more! Volunteers assist with those education programs by helping CSTL Educators with the preparation of program materials, set up/break down of program, and other program related needs.
Engage guests of all ages in meaningful conversations and guide them through our exhibits and hands-on activities. Assist CSTL guests on their journey through our exhibits!
Keep CSTL looking its best! Assist with gardening and horticulture, planting, weeding, pruning around the exhibits, buildings, and trails.
*All applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older to volunteer at CSTL.*
